Plateau Cape

The cape is hand beaded on brain tan deerskin. The style and design of floral work is Plateau, the region of eastern Washington, Oregon and panhandle of Idaho. Designs are historically correct for Late 1800’s, and translated from a cradle board cover. I have added the bee form to complete the idea that making honey is how I want to live my days. The yoke of the cape has a row of fringe and antique trade beads from the early 1800’s. Blue Murano cylinders, padre, floral, red ovals and dark green watermelons. The piece took 7 months of daily but not full time loving labor. It feels like being  surrounded by flowers and bees to place it on your shoulders. Price $4500
